Because of a new city road project, 27 impoverished fisherman
and their families will be uprooted from their squatter houses in December, 2006, in Malitbog, Southern Leyte, Philippines.
The city has provided these families with land near the sea which will have safe water. Outreach Asia has partnered with
The City of Malitbog to help fund and construct 27 new houses for these poor famlies. Most of the labor will be provided by
the families through a "Sweat Equity" program.
They will have a cement floor and foundation, new pre-painted 55%
aluminum metal roof, new bamboo walls, inside toilet and running water, two rooms, exterior kitchen and septic tank.
"Sweat Equity" from the famlily members will be used to construct
these houses. The land and water will be provided by the city for free.
